SO anyway, I purchased the books, and after two days of near non-stop reading, I have blown through 3 1/2 of the 4 books with all the eagerness a reader has when devouring a good book the first time you read it. No, the books are not perfect. Yes, the quality of the writing leaves a small bit to be desired. Yes, the sparkling vampires makes little sense. However, I still find myself enthralled with the books.
I have witnessed the sheer level of fanatacism exhibited by some of the more immature 'teeny-bopper' fans of the books, and yes, it is wildly embarassing to be lumped into that category solely because I like the books. However, I am even more embarassed to be lumped into the same species as those who would make snide comments over a book. One such comment that I continue to see resurfacing again and again is "A sparkly vampire is a gay vampire" or any variation thereof. How dare you, you who think you have the right to make such a stereotypical remark about gays and so on over a fucking book? I am outraged and appalled that people would make such comments, without even considering what it is they're saying.
As they say, my faith in humanity has lowered a notch because of the pathetic people who think they have the right to make such a remark just because they're angered over some annoying 12 year old fangirl.
